Silly Janice

I was out for a meeting in KL on Wed morning at Menara Promet. Before I reach, Stan told me to park at the open space car park behind the ING building where there was a school, which will apparently be cheaper than parking inside the building. So I did as told, happily, I got a parking space just near to the entrance, changed my shoe, got out from the car, swiftly lock the door and closed it, making sure it's locked properly. In just a few second, I saw some brochures which I tot of handing over some to the customer, so, I started to search my car key from my handbag.... searched and searched... then.... oh gosh!!! really shit!!! and damn!!! my car key is happily hanging at the car!!! Wat a silly me... :p

Since nothing that I can do for that moment, I walked to Menara Promet and met up with Stan, told him about it and he could only laughed. Wat a bad day to start of... despite, my phone was almost out of batt by 11 something (am). After the meeting, we went to Stan's mother's florist shop, to charge my h/p and get the price from the locksmith next door. It cost about RM30 to unlock my car, initially was RM35, got discount of RM5! haha...

But we decided to take a sip at starbucks, the weld, while I were thinking how to solve the problem, "to pay or not to pay?", that was the question. Heh... Nearly got 1 of my colleague, Samuel to come down to help me since he knows the way of unlocking the door due to his past 'same' experience with me. Suddenly, tot of William, a crazy car lover, an adjuster working at AXA, just opposite ING, he should know how to help me. Called him up and he said he will come over and give a try. Then, he came with only a plastic ruler cos he said he could find a steel ruler in his office. Trying for a few shot, knowing that he can't make it, we decided to call the locksmith and to pay the 30 bucks.

Guess what, a professional door/normal lock's locksmith is not a professional car unlocker, it tooks 3 of them to try about more than half an hour to get the lock open. They tried with a few tiny 'L' & 'l' shape steels like those in the movie to open the lock from the key hold and they tried to put a 'saw'in between the window and the door, 'bang'-ing damn hard trying to make the lock to jump up. That moment, I tot my door or my lock will be gone! Luckily after trying and trying, finally they can unlock the lock at the front sitter side before the rain start. *phew*

When I were back to the office, Samuel teached me to open the door lock with a plastic strap, which is normally used to wrap those paper box. It was quite easy seeing him to do it altho I didn't try it out myself. But at least now I have an option to try to open the lock myself next time when the same silly thing happened to me again... ^_^ or some of you may need my help next time? Hah...

Theft

There had been 2 cases of robbery happened to 2 different friends of mine.

1st case : Samantha

She was walking beside the road heading to her car after the Pasar Malam at SS2. While walking, she sense that there is a motorcyclist following from her back. She could sensed that the motorcyclist will eventually snatch her handbag, so in her thoughts she was hoping that it won't be the case... BUT... unluckily, it did happened. The motorcyclist grabbed her handbag and she conciously & unconciously holding her handbag real tight as she never thought of letting it go with the thief. The motorcyclist dragged her for some distance, her head even got hit by something (she not sure what it is) and finally, the thief decided to let go of her.

Her face and hand got scratched quite badly and not even a soul by the roadside is helpful enough to help her when the terrible thing happened. When she came back to work after MC for few days, she still can smile and joke about the incident. Funnily, she said "I know I like money but I don't really realised that I am that in LOVE with money". This is obviously quoted because she is brave enough of not letting go of her handbag even she is dragged until it hurts. Not sure what will I do if I'm her...

2nd case : Wen

Also happened on the night of a Pasar Malam but this is in Klang. It's her unusual habit of leaving her purse in the car but she did it on that night being advised by her bf to do so. After taking all the money out from her purse, she put it under the seat and start her pasar malam shopping. When she got back to her car, the window was broken and obviously, her purse was gone with the house keys. The rest of the things are still in the car, like, TnG card, her shoes and small change. Not forget to mentioned a very important point, the purse's brand is Gucci and it's bought in Aussie land... guess how much it cost her? It's suppose to be her 10 years investment... but now... sob... sob...

At first she is not as nervous, so she quickly counted her shoes in the car to see whether they are all there. *phew* All shoes are still around. Then, she called the credit card centre to block the card and guess what, the cards had been used for more than RM2k. Woah! The thief now is very efficient!!

Zouk Fest @ Genting, Saturday, 5 March 2005 Part IV

Finally got into the party area, but both of us have lost contact with the group, anyhow, we just went ahead to walk around the place while tried to contact them. Here's a map of all the stages.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The first stage we saw when we walked in from the entrance was the huge Ghetto Heaven Stage, here was where the non stop R&B music played. But we didn't just stop there, we continued to wander around. When we walked pass the left side of the stage, there was this huge VIP tent for the so-called VIP only, we didn't have any VIP in the gang, so won't be able to go up there at all. Right behind the VIP area was the ZOUK main arena, where they have all the famous DJ's playing all the electronic music. Not my type at all, so I just waited beside the 'Recharge' counter while my friend tried to locate the gang. The weather was so cold that I couldn't help but to sit down so that the crowd will block the cold wind for me. Once again, I had to wonder how the girls can stand the cold with so few pieces of cloth.

After about 20 minutes, my friend finally able to locate them, we ran off back to the Ghetto Heaven Arena. Right beside the VIP tent, there was this slope which leaded uphill to the Velvet Arena, where they played house music. But we didn't go up there at all, nobody in the gang was a fan of house I guessed. So finally, we were able to regroup again at the Ghetto Heaven Arena. The gang started to pick up the mood after some beers, but after all the troubles of getting into the party, somehow it was not as fun as it should be. But anyhow, we still enjoyed the party as much as we deserve to. Dancing to the beat of the music, drinking as much as we could (although beer only), combining with the cold weather and searing wind, it was one hell of a great experience.

3 hours later, everybody started to get tired, when we tried to locate the other 4 of the members, we just manged to find 1 of the couples only. After much effort of contacting them, we finally decided that probably they have gone back to the room and we shouldn't disturbed them for the time being. For ther rest of the 4 of us, we proceeded to grab something to eat at the Hainan restaurant (again!). Despite being so late in the night, it was still full of young clubbers and old gamblers, Genting is really a non stop city of entertainment. When we finished the meal, the lost couple finally contacted us, they were already back in the room. With a fully exhausted body and a dizzy mind, we went back to the room for some good sleep.

I was not able to get a sound sleep at all, the morning came shortly after I fall on the bed. The next Sunday was pretty uneventful, after a lunch and some coffee at Starbucks, we bid farewell to the gang and drived down the hill.

Wow, finally finish the part 4, I know this is abit too late to write about a party more than 2 months ago, but somehow I have to finish the story right? Comparing with my previous party last year, this party was much enjoyable, although there were so much more troubles of getting into the party. At the end of the day, it is always about how pleasant and nice the partner and gang you go with to a party instead of how great is the party itself.

Movie Review: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

Finally, the missing link of the Star Wars stories are revealed. The final of episode of the first trilogy is really the bridge to the original Star Wars series.

The movie starts off where it left off the last time, with Anakin Skywalker fulfilling his destiny to be the one Jedi to end the presence of the Sith. But is he? We all know by now that Anakin did not become the Jedi to eliminate the Sith. Instead, he became one of the Sith's most powerful lord, Darth Vader. But why and how did Anakin became Lord Vader? It's all revealed here in this episode. This episode also detailed the rise of Senator Palpatine to become the Emperor of the Republic, why the Jedi Masters (Yoda and Obi Wan Kenobi) are into hiding, and how Luke and Leia were separated.

In all, this movie in itself, doesn't really overwhelmed you with details, but it is perhaps one of the more important of the series. The effects and actions of the scenes are all done wonderfully, perhaps really the best in all 6 Star Wars series, not surprising considering the technology available to George Lucas now compared to the first episode released in 1977. But what George Lucas managed to do is that he manages to use technology to bring us back in time... his creations in this 2005 release will mesh seamlessly into the 1977 release. I'm sure if you watch the episodes back to back, you probably can't tell that this episode is created 28 years after the first one. That shows how visionary he was when we created the show.

I can't wait for the DVD box set to be released, so that I watch all 6 episodes back to back.

Movie Reviews: In Good Company & Guess Who

Call it coincidence, or call it some sort of conspiracy by some Hollywood mogul, but I watched two movies starring the members of the casts of The 70s Show consecutively. First, it is Topher Grace in In Good Company, then it is Ashton Kutcher in Guess Who.

Topher Grace puts in an okay performance as Carter Duryea, a young marketing hotshot working for a global company, which has just bought over the magazine that Dan Foreman (Dennis Quaid) works in. While Carter has a successful career, his personal life just began to fall apart. His wife of 7 months decided to leave him, and he has little friends. So, he somehow managed to get himself invited to dinner with Dan and his family, where he met Alex, Dan's daughter (Scarlett Johansson). Apart from the romance that blossomed between Carter and Alex, the movie also shows the relationship between an older, wiser career man and a young upstart who are seeking the meaning of life and relationship.

Somehow, I feel that the movie can do better if it can decide to focus on either the romance between Carter and Alex, or on the buddy-hood between Carter and Dan, because at the end of the movie, you don't feel that either relationship is really developed properly.

Although Ashton Kutcher's performance as Simon Green in Guess Who doesn't take much of an effort or different path from his character in the 70s Show, overall, the movie is much more enjoyable. It stars Bernie Mac, as Percy Jones, the father of Simon's fiancee. What Percy hadn't anticipated, was that her daughter will bring a white guy back home. So, begins a series of funny exchanges between Percy and Simon, while in between, both men have to learn to deal with their respective angry partners.

Guess Who turns out to be pretty hilarious, not much of slapstick, unlike Kutcher's previous movies. It was definitely a good watch for a late night show.

Is it a book store or a library?

For quite some time, I noticed that most friends around me don't really read, it felt quite discouraging when I was very excited with a new book I just read but had nobody to share my thoughts with. But recently, I found that there are some friends who like to read too, it feels wonderful to talk about books among friends, eventhough we read totally different books. A big thanks to Fay and Kennyg about this. By the way, Janice, when are you getting the book you mentioned from Kennyg? Hahaha.

Ok, back to the topic, last Saturday, after a tokok lunch with donkey and colleague at bukit bintang, I went over to Borders BTS for some books and reading. They got a Starbucks inside the bookstore, which let the guests to have a nice place for some coffee and reading session. So I spent my whole afternoon reading and drinking at this Starbucks. But one thing I noticed was that most people will like to grab a big stack of magazines or books, put them on the table, and read for free. Hmm, the place looks more like a library than a bookstore this way, I think they should buy the books instead of reading whole day for free there, it's supposed to be a bookstore right?
