Book Review: Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less
I've been a Jeffrey Archer fan since the day I picked up his As The Crow Flies novel. Everytime I make a trip to the bookshop, I would try to pick up one of his books, and I think I've almost completed his entire collection. I always enjoyed the way he tells a story, both engaging and surprising.
Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less is one of his earlier book, first published back in 1976. It begins with a tale of how a young Polish man in America made it to become a successful businessman through his cunning and some not so "legal" ways. It culminates to a plan where he successfully "cheated" about a million dollar from four totally unrelated and unconnected individuals - an Oxford professor, a British doctor, a French art dealer and an English lord.
The story then switched to how the 4 individuals eventually team up and formulate 4 different plans to get back at the conman. Their aim - to get back what was cheated out of them... nothing more, and nothing less.
As with every other Jeffrey Archer's book, the pace of the story is excellent. I could almost never put the book down... if I could, I would have wanted to finish the book in one go. The story is engaging, Archer has a knack of making a reader (perhaps just me) identify with each of the characters in the book.
