Makan Review: Hot Wok, Bangsar

Bangsar is always known for being the place with overpriced food, so this place is not really an exception. To have a plate of Char Kuey Teow for over RM5.00 is, well a tad too expensive, but then again, this is Bangsar and the place is quiet and air-conditioned, thus I am not complaining too much.

Located on a 1st floor of the same row of shops where McDonalds is located, this place might easily be missed if you don't look up. However, the bright yellow signboard and the red Hot Wok wording is easy to be spotted if you are looking for it.

Walking up the stairs feels like you are visiting a dingy Karaoke bar (my friend's words, not mine). Once up, they have 2 sections, indoor and outdoor (with outdoor being a place for the smokers and you can check out the scene on the main Telawi street below).

The choice of food is the typical Malaysian fare, quite a number of choices but I have only quickly glanced through and choose my food the other day. The service is not too bad, but as I was there about 9pm on a weekday night, the place is manned by 2 staffs (owners I think) who are very friendly and helpful.

Definitely worth going back again for me, especially if you want a local Malaysian dish, which is a little difficult to find in Bangsar amidst all the fancy, western and mamak restaurants there.
