Movie Review: King Arthur

King Arthur. Excalibur the sword. Sir Lancelot the knight. Knights of the Round Table. Merlin the Magician. Those were the icons I have known from childhood. When the ads were out all over TV, I wasn't too familiar with the production and cast, except for the beautiful Keira Knightley and it was produced by Jerry Bruckenheimer. Then having read through the weekend review of the movie in The Star, I wasn't having high expectation when my friend invited me to join him for this movie.
 
But I left the cinema feeling satisfied, emotionally charged and still griping from the action and testosterone at level high. From the opening sequence of a battle between the Roman army, assisted by Arthur and his knights, and the Woads (tribes of Britain), led by the fabled Merlin to the final battle between Arthur and the Saxon leader, the action is almost non-stop, save for a brief moment of the requisite of love scene between Arthur and Guinevere.
 
The setting and storyline might be very different from the King Arthur stories I've heard and read when I was young, but some of the scenes in the movie does evoke strong memory - such as the scene where young Arthur pulls out the Excalibur sword from the stone.
 
Won't dwelve too much into the story, you can probably get the storyline from plenty of other places. I think it's a good watch, especially for the guys. The girls might find too many fightings/battlescenes in the movie.
