Makan Review: Good Evening Bangkok

The number of Thai restaurants in around KL and PJ are countless. Located on the ground floor of the new One Utama, Good Evening Bangkok is another spot where you can savour the hot and sour taste of Thai cuisines.

Good Evening Bangkok (GBE) is one of the latest in a series of Thai based restaurants operated by SEA Cuisines, who also operates Amarin Heavenly Thai, Rain Nudle House and Bangkok Jam. GBE's interior is spacious and wide. It also overlooks the indoor landscaped garden of One Utama's new wing.

Food wise is pretty standard Thai fare and the price is neither cheap nor expensive. I was there for a late lunch with 2 clients. We ordered a fish in Thai sauce (nothing to shout about), claypot tofu (a bit sourish) and tomyam soup (they have 2 type - clear spicy and those reddish kind... quite tasty). My client also introduced a very interesting appetizer, can't recall what it is called... but it's like popiah... you roll up a leaf, dump in some nuts, dried prawns, onions, lime, dip it in a nice sweet sauce... and put it in your mouth... yummy.

I think GBE can be quite a nice place to have a group dinner (6 to 10 people). It's spacious and the staffs are quite friendly (maybe because I was there when there were less crowd). I might check it out for dinner one night.
