Makan Review: Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant, Bangkok

I'm sure most of you would be surprised and curious with the name of the restaurant. I was equally intrigued when the conceirge of my hotel recommended my colleagues and I this restaurant to have our dinner.

We were staying in Ambassador Hotel, on Sukhomvit Soi 11 and the Cabbages and Condoms (CC) restaurant is located on Sukhomvit Soi 12. So it's a walking distance.

We managed to locate the restaurant after about 15 minutes of walk.Walking in, it didn't look dodgy at all (something I might have expected in Bangkok and with a name like that). It looked pleasant and relaxing. We were ushered to a table inside the restaurant... the table top has a layer of glass... and underneath the glass are multi-coloured condoms... I hope they are not used condoms.

The menu explained why Cabbages & Condoms were named. Apparently, a senator in Thailand wanted to promote safe sex, and thus wanted to make condoms easily available... as easily available as vegetables in the market. As such, he founded this restaurant as part of the people & community development association of Thailand's activities. After doing a quick search on the net, I found out that there are about 5 such restaurants throughout Thailand.

On the walls, you can see framed pictures of Vasectomy procedures, caricatures, cartoons and also sets of vasectomy tools. The food was nice... atypical Thai fare. Value for money too. And to add to the surprise, along with the change from the bill, they gave each of us condoms! This is new :) They should do this in Malaysia.

Overall, it's a nice little discovery that I'm glad I made during my short trip to Bangkok. Travels are never a bore with this kind of little surprises and adventures.

Suckspage Futsal Session?

I am glad to see that we are moving into healthy activities (apart from swimming on the mahjong table...). I would love the idea of playing futsal.

I would suggest that we should meet up every Tuesday at 8pm at the Futsal Pitch at Tmn Megah (next to the food court). I will make arrangement, I would need to have commitment from you guys. We will need at least 10 to start, and I might get a few from my company to join.

So is it a go? If yes, then I'll make the bookings... I think it's RM80 per hour... and we'll start with an hour first... We'll start on Merdeka Day? 31st August. No one's working that day right?

Revelation @ Genting, Part 2

So, finally we got into the venue, the event was organized by Salem, so Salem banners are all over the place, with hot Salem babes selling Salem stuffs of course.
Once in the venue, there's a large empty space with lots of projector screens around, clubbers can be seen walking everywhere and shaking their body following the music. But then the music was not that loud in this area. There was a small stage at the end of the square, some people were up there dancing already. To the left was a small building, a sign was on the entrance, 'Free massage, 5 minutes'. It looks cool, but then the queue was long, I just finished queueing out there lah, dun want to queue again.
So we proceeded to the main square on the right, which need to wawlk abit further in. The main square was much bigger, with a large stage at the very far end. The place was getting more n more packed too. We found an empty place and decided to stay there, 2 representatives which included me approached the counter for drinks redeem. The tickets stated 2 beers or mineral waters, but then the sucking organizer now limited to 1 beer and 1 mineral water only. Sucks!
After some time dancing at the same place, I got bored and proceeded to move towards the huge stage with the dj there. With some squeezing and pushing here and there, at last I managed to get somewhere about 10 metres from the stage. People around here seems wilder and enjoy themselves more. Good for me, can feel and enjoy the party environemt more. I stayed there until the party ended at about 4:30. I met up with my friends then we went back to the apartment.
Wait, the party didn't stop here. Back at the apartment, it was even more happening. Another gang of people showed up when we got back, with 1 more laptop and another set of speakers + subwoofer. The party continued with 1 sound system set up in the guest room and another set in the master room. One is for bass heavy dance music, another for slow chinese song. The remaining rooms are for sleeping of course. Which rooms I joined? Of course the sleeping room. A few of us just went back to room and slept, they all continued party out there. Whatever happened and how wild was it out there, I have no idea. The next morning, for few of us who didn't party till late night, we went up the casino, played some games and headed back to KL.
All in all, the event was great.
Pros: Great event, nice sound system, nice lighting, cool environment and of course, nice chics.
Cons: Not enough alcohol, 2 beers become 1 beer + 1 mineral water, join the wrong gang(too wild), drugs, why must they take those things? SUCKS.
After this event, I guess I still prefer RnB. Thanks for reading.

Tech Update: Web based MSN Messenger

This web based MSN Messenger provided by MSN.com http://webmessenger.msn.com is looks alike the MSN Messenger Application.

It is an alternative for those who just want to use MSN Messenger without install.

compare to http://www.e-messenger.net/ and http://www.wbmsn.net/beta , the MSN web messenger is much better in terms of usage like contacts, typing, show emoticons and GUI.
the e-messenger did provide slidely better interface than wbMSN but quite slow in loading process while wbMSN provide little usage other than typing (very simple interface).

overall rating:
a) e-messenger - 3/5
b) wbmsn - 2/5
c) msn web - 4/5

Revelation @ Genting - Part 1

So I went to this rave party with the name 'Revelation' held at Genting last Saturday. What's so interesting n this event? Read on....
Somehow I managed to find some kaki's to go up the hill, which was my ex-colleague and his gang. 5pm, I was in his friend's car, which is a Toyota Harrier, driving up the hill. Together in the car was a notebook, a pair of altec lensing speakers and a sub woofer. They were actually planning to have a house session after the party ended. Now that's cool, I never thought of doing that whenever I went to genting. After wasting much time taking dinner and gambling, finally we approached the main entrance of the event.
It was held at a large space besides the first world hotel, to be precise, when u exit the lobby, head left, pass the starbucks cafe and walked down the hill, the venue is just about 20 metres ahead. Started from 8pm, you can actually heard the strong music coming for the direction, with green lights shooting to the sky.
We started to queue at the entrance around 11:30pm, taking a clearer look at the crowd, majority chinese and as usual, more guys than girls. But then there're lots of nice chics around, slim, tall and with lesser-cloth-than-usual attire. Bra tops, tube tops are everywhere, with hot pants and super mini skirts. I wondered how they stand the cold. The best thing is, overall quaity are superb, mixed with pc ocasionally, pc always exists, so not much complains.
After 30 minutes stucked at the entrance, we finally managed to get inside. So what happened next? I gotta go for bath now, if u still want to waste your time reading this, stay tuned for the next part.

Makan Review: Qba, Westin KL

Not to be confused with Q-bar in Sunway, this Qba is located on the lower ground floor of Westin Hotel, along Jln Bukit Bintang. Unfamiliar with the hotel, I had to ask a hotel staff to locate the restaurant. Once I stepped in, I was impressed. Very classy setting, Spanish kind of deco, with latino music playing in the background. Waitresses in short flair Spanish skirts with generous smile. Nice.

Sat down, ordered a bottle of Australian wine (RM140++). We were served some garlic breads, which were soft and taste really good (not those cheap crispy, hard like rock garlic breads you get from Pizza Hut). Good start. Then proceed with a starter, which is a plate of soft shell crab (RM25++). It was delicious. Although I personally still prefer the soft shell crab from Genki. As for main course, I ordered a Argentinian steak (RM70++), while my dinner mate had a lobster meal (RM70++). Both dishes looked really good, and my steak was just perfect, juicy and succulent. Topped up with dessert. We had a Casonade Catalana (some dessert like jell-o) and a Mud Pie (RM15++ each). Satisfying. Great meal, nice ambience.

Qba is actually made up of 2 levels. The upper level is the Latin restaurant, while the downstairs is a bar/lounge area with a live band. By the time we finished our dinner, the band has not started yet (supposed to start at 10.30pm... on a weekday night which I feel is a little too late). But there are indeed some crowd already lounging around. Not sure if I am already kinda tipsy, but I do get some looks from some of the older women there (well, most of the women there are older). Ah, even better. But we didn't stayed on. We went over to Planet Hollywood for a drink. That's another review later on. Apparently Qba gets pretty packed on Friday and Saturday nights. So, I guess it warrants another visit someday, just to see whether I still get the looks from the ladies there. Hmmm.

Overall, it is a classy (also very expensive) place to dine and wine. Especially good if you are out to impress a girl (or if you are girl, get your guy to bring you there so you can see him cringe as he pays the bill). Make reservation on weekends, preferably. Ask for table #8 or #10. Perfect privacy.

Qba Latin Restaurant
Food: 4 of 5
Service: 3 of 5 (friendly, but not intrusive)
Ambience: 4 of 5
Overall: 4 of 5

Wedding Bells Blues

Sigh. It is quite depressing to be associated with Suckspage nowadays. No, not really because Donkey keep winning money on football while I can win nuts... it's because of the wedding bells that are ringing, left, right, centre, front, back, up, down and where ever. Oh, don't get me wrong. I am very happy and glad people are getting attached and committed with their loved ones for life. I am very happy at the prospect of future gatherings of Suckspage will have little brats running around and breaking everything in sight.

So, what am I complaining? I don't know. But I guess it's just that more wedding bells are going to ring this year... I wonder how and when will it be my turn. Siew Wai, Yee, Sandy and I believe to some extend, Garry. Geee... I'm so confused... one side I feel damn happy, the other side, feel depressed. Sigh.

Oh well, actually just wanna wish Siew Wai a big congratulations on the upcoming ceremony (if any...). And also just to create more post in here... what happened to everyone?
